A escrita da língua inglesa pode ser simplificada pelas contrações. Isto facilita a pronúncia das frases no dia a dia, muitas vezes proferidas em velocidade, mas que se tornam compreensíveis nas contrações.

Aqui, apresentamos algumas contrações utilizando o verbo “to be” e os auxiliares “will”, “do”, “have” e “would”.

1) You’re so nice! And they’re also very nice! = Você é tão legal! E eles também são muito legais!

2) No, they’re not here. They aren’t. And also my mother isn’t. = Não, eles não estão aqui. Eles não estão. E minha mãe também não está.

3) Is she using my car? No, she isn’t. = = Ela está usando meu carro? Não, ela não está.

4) Will you go to John’s house tomowwoy? I’ll. = Vocês irão à casa do John amanhã? Eu vou.

5) It won’t rain anymore. = Não vai mais chover.

6) I don’t know Paris, and also they don’t. = Eu não conheço Paris, e eles também não.

7) It has many people at the stadium, but is hasn’t many people outside. = Há muitas pessoas no estádio, mas não há muitas pessoas do lado de fora.

8) I’d like a coffe, please! Eu gostaria de um café, por favor!

9) Lucas had done an incredible jog before he’s gone. = Lucas havia feito um trabalho incrível antes de ir embora.
